New Zealand is a country that has long been popular with adventure tourists and visitors look to enjoy some of New Zealand’s craziest adventures. Whether on land, at sea or in the sky-above, New Zealand offers everything to a thrill-seeking tourist and here I count down the top 4 adventurous activities to do in this beautiful country.
SkyDive in Queenstown
There are skydive locations and schools all over New Zealand but few offer views on the descent quite like those that can be found in Queenstown. As you descend you will have stunning views over snow topped mountains and amazing sea views. The schools here offer both tandem and solo dives and they have grades of excellency for their work and training. If jumping out of a plane without nothing but a parachute on your back is what you are after then head to Queenstown and make it happen.
White Water Rafting
In the Karamea National Park they offer a fantastic 3 or 10-day Heli-rafting tour, Heli-rafting is where a helicopter drops you into some of the most amazing places to white water raft. Many of the locations are near impossible to access any other way. The tour will then take you don’t some of most high-octane and intense rapids that the Karamea River has to offer. The tour will gradually get harder as the days go on and as your abilities in the boat improve. On an evening you will camp out with the rest of your team and enjoy some campfire cooked food and a couple of local wines or beers to unwind. This is one of the best white-water rafting experiences that I’ve ever had.
Swimming With Dolphins
In Akaroa Harbour you can take a 2 hour tour and swim with the Hector Dolphins, also known as the New Zealand Dolphin in what will be a memorable experience. The harbour is actually a flooded volcano crater and volcanic cliffs surround this beautiful area. On the tour, you will head out in small numbers to the edge of the harbour and jump into the water with your new friends, the dolphins are friendly and love to play with us humans which means everybody has a good time. What I like about this tour is that if for some reason the dolphins aren’t there, they will give you some of your money back which no many companies do.
Visit Stewart Island
Stewart Island is New Zealand’s third biggest island and is a beautiful place to visit for hiking tours, with stunning landscape and incredible animals this will be unforgettable tour. You start the trip by taking a water-taxi into the island and then you can visit the fantastic bird sanctuary that the island has or begin hiking around the island. The island is home to many endangered species that if you’re lucky you may get to see. Many of the tours also offer a bus tour of the island with a local guide to explain the history of the place. The island has some areas that are geared up for tourists with restaurants etc. but the majority of the island is untouched and unspoiled giving you the perfect chance to relax in these beautiful surroundings.
