Being one of the more popular tourist destinations in Cornwall, Polzeath beach is definitely an attraction in its own right. It has everything you would want out of a beach, from golden sands to clear water – which is why it consistently draws so many people.
While you’re staying at holiday accommodation Polzeath you should definitely spend some time at Polzeath beach. Frankly you’ll find there’s no shortage of things to do – such as:
Surf – or learn how to
As a renowned ‘surfers haven’ it should come as no surprise that the conditions at Polzeath are really ideal for surfing. Assuming you already know how then you will undoubtedly want to hit the waves as soon as possible, but if not then it you could enroll at one of the many surf schools that are in the vicinity to get started.
Forage for seafood at the rock pools
Exploring the rock pools on the beach during low tide is definitely going to be interesting – but why not go a step further and forage for some seafood? Odds are you’ll be able to find some mussels, winkles, shrimp, seaweed, and other types of seafood that you could dine on later in the day.
Hike on the trails
Although strictly speaking the trails out of Polzeath aren’t confined to the beach alone, they do start from there. If you want you can take the trail to the nearby Daymer Bay, or go in the opposite direction along the coastal cliffs. In either case you will definitely find the views to be spectacular.
Go on a boat trip
Several boat trips are available that will take you out on the water to see the sights that are nearby. If you are lucky you may even catch a glimpse of some dolphins playing while you’re out there.
Have a good old fashioned seaside picnic
If you don’t feel like venturing from the beach itself you could always pack a lunch and have a nice little picnic on the sand. Even if you forgot to bring food along with you there are ample shops and cafes nearby so you could easily buy some pasties or other Cornish goodies and create a makeshift picnic out of them.
Of course in addition to all that there is the normal seaside fun to be had – such as building sandcastles, burying yourself in the sand, or even just lying back and enjoying the calm ocean breeze. It really is up to you how you want to spend your time at Polzeath beach, but at least you now should have several ideas on what you could do and may want to explore some of them further.
