Ok, FINE, I’m a Jetsetter! (today)

Solo 300x300 Ok, FINE, Im a Jetsetter! (today)I always get teased about being a “jetsetter,” which I think is funny since I hardly think scraping together pennies from a journalist’s salary for a Southwest ticket does a “jetsetter” make. But sometimes I get invited to do some things that deserve some good-natured ribbing. And for once, I’m not going to go, “Oh, stop it…” On Monday, I got to do something I had never done before: fly into town (Hollywood for that matter)  just for a party — and I even got to hit the red carpet with one of my favorite stars.

So fine, call me a jetsetter…  But just this once!

In true jetsettter fashion, I was given almost no notice of my impending adventure. Early Sunday evening I was told that I had been invited to a party thrown by my magazine (Vegas)’s sister publication, Los Angeles Confidential. The reason? Their cover star was Dennis Quaid, currently of the CBS drama, Vegas. Also in the show? Michael Chiklis and Carrie-Anne Moss, currently on the cover of my own magazine. Long story short, there was room on a private jet headed for LA, and did I want to come?

I’d be honored!

I went into overdrive. Missing a day of work meant that some pre-planning was required. I worked late that night, but it did not matter. The next day, I again was in my home’s makeshift makeup chair, which recently got play when I was preparing to meet Celine Dion. These darn events that happen on days when the salon is closed! Amber from Hot Box did my hair and makeup!

I met up with my publisher, Joe Vann, at the private airport near the Strip. This was much better than a day at the office!

As we know from my previous posts about private jet charter to LA, it is a quick trip. But we all got in the cocktail party mood with a little apperitif!

When we got to the party, I of course had to hit the red carpet with Dennis, and my friend and colleague Tiffany Carey … What do you think?

Touchdown: just long enough to hit the red carpet with Dennis Quaid and my colleague, Tiffany.

The ride home seemed a little longer than the ride there, and at least half of our little party  fell asleep. But it was worth it! Seeing the unmistakable lights of the Las Vegas Strip in the distance, I knew I was home.

It was a late night — I got home around midnight — but it was worth every bit of future exhaustion to be a jetsetter for the day.

You must be getting used to traveling like this by now. Tell me it hasn’t crossed your mind just how long it would take to get to Costa Rica on one of these private jets.
You do look great by the way.

I’m sorry, multiple private jet rides and many, many evenings hanging out with celebrities makes you a jetsetter always, even if you aren’t always treated as such by the airlines!

Kristin, I will run a less “filtered” pic in the magazine — that was the best I could do short-notice!
