Bronzed: Where Las Vegas strippers and socialites collide

Las Vegas women swear by their spray tans, and they all head here, to Bronzed, for a private session with the maestro himself, Terry. Everyone goes to him, from the Strip headliners and socialites at the highest levels (no, I can’t name names!), to the cocktail servers and strippers who come in in the evenings on the way to work. Oh, and me. I would never do any public speaking without a private tan or attend or host a fancy event (with more public speaking) without being properly bronzed. This doesn’t matter what month of the year it is either. “Party Prep” means making a tan appointment. I’d rather shiver in January with tanned legs than (yuck) wear tights.

It’s just the Vegas way.

Bronzed is a funny place. Located in a Las Vegas strip mall right across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel, the parking lot can be a bit seedy sometimes. But no one minds. It is very suburban in the late afternoons/early evenings, when I’m always running into somebody. But sometimes, I have late events and try to get in on my way home. This never works. Bronzed stays open until 10 pm every single night, but he never, ever can squeeze me in. All “the girls” who are headed to work keep him busy for two hours without a second’s break, as one by one they put on their high, high heels and run off into the night to the nightclub and strip clubs.

Garrulus Terry becomes best friends with everyone, from the classy Las Vegas multi-millionaire philanthropists to the bubbly waitresses and dancers. I always tell him something I shouldn’t. He knows alll the secrets in town.

Sometimes my Bronzed appointment is as “Las Vegas” as my day gets.

I love it.

Planning a vacation? If you’re like me (on a budget), I recommend that you compare holidays here. Bon voyage!

Very interesting – I’m so pale I better get one next time I go to Vegas – who knew? =)

You are such a bronzed goddess!!!!

You can come with me, Andrea! Andi, so you are lol

I’ve never had a spray tan, shockingly enough considering I lived in LA – I always figured laying out was free and lasted longer (and yeah, I know, cancer, but whatever). But if I had to look my best in the middle of winter like you do, I’d be hitting up a spray tan place too!

Remember when Julie found me one in Buenos Aires lol. She came to my room — it was great!

Wow, with his varied clientele, that man needs to write a book! I bet he knows the juiciest gossip :)

I have never gotten a spray tan but I’m a self-tanner proponent. I won’t bake my skin in the sun anymore but there’s no need to be pale.

Once he’s retired, he’s going to write the BEST book!

Yay for self-tanner and protecting our skin!

I have never gotten a spray tan!! Although, after re-examining my pasty white winter skin, me thinks next time you go, I should tag along!

Yes, you need to at least once!!

Perhaps I should look into spray tanning instead of baking in the pool!

I should have known Vegas had a solution for transluscent people like me who tend to turn lobster coloured in the sun.

The parking lot can be “a bit” seedy? A bit? I guess during the day it’s OK, but you won’t catch me hanging out there at night. He must do a good job though, as you always look great in your photos.

I’ve been there late at night lol. There are two very specific crackheads who sort of creep me out. The problem is when you go early evening and can’t get a parking spot RIGHT in front and have to walk. There are some great restaurants in there though!

Never tried spray tan. The place sounds like an interesting experience in its own right, though.

It is! And Terry is quite a character!

I’ve actually tried a spray tan and I have to say it turned out pretty good. So much easier than the countless minutes on the tanning bed. Sounds like Terry has a pretty good thing going :)

I love that you’ve tried one, Pete LOL!!

I have never had a spray tan, but luckily I am fairly tan naturally. I just get extra dark in the summer. I love laying out in the sun. I don’t burn, but I force myself to put on sunscreen now since I know I should. I’m so glad you spray tan and don’t do those scary tanning beds!

I’ve actually recently considered doing this for the first time for an upcoming photo shoot. My worry is that I would come out looking orange or too tan. lol

Christy, you’d love it!! Just make sure to go to a recommended place. ;-)

Rease, I wish I had your skin!

I love it!! What a quirky and unusual tradition. :-) I love that he is besties with everyone he meets. :-)

    Being a red-head the one thing I can’t ever really look forward to is a tan…sob :P

  24. Posted February 13, 2012 at 12:02 pm | Permalink

I need to try him, I ended up looking like a tanned skunk after my last spray tan, when it kept running down my body leaving stripes – not an attractive look!

  25. Posted February 13, 2012 at 4:53 pm | Permalink

Laurel — on no!! How would that even happen?! Come to Vegas — we’ll take care of you!

Your title reminded me of my former tanning days when strippers from the red light district two blocks away made it to the less sleazy part of town into the tanning salon I frequented. I actually love the interaction for its entertainment value. These days, however, I no longer need to tan since most people around me are WAY more pale than I (the sun light barely comes out). Although, I’ve never experienced a spray tan. I get nervous that it might come off on clothing or in the shower – silly I know.

Now that I’ve braved the wax and embraced metrosexuality, I guess it’s time I try out some fake tan too :-p

  28. Posted February 20, 2012 at 1:56 am | Permalink

This is so funny – In the winter I basically live in opaque tights (with dresses & skirts) In fact, I just bought stocked up on Betsey Johnson tights because they were on sale. I hate the feeling of nylons or pantyhose though…they just feel yuck.

I’m so scared of spray tans because I’m *SO* pale but I might actually give this place a try when I come back to Vegas. The fact that you don’t look orange is enough of a selling point for me ;)

I’m so fair that spray tans give me an Oompah-Loompah look. It does look better when I’ve had someone apply it for me, but after a few days, I get these brown spots, which don’t look good. I’ve accepted my ghost-like paleness, but I realize that in certain cities (such as LA or LV), that wouldn’t fly. xoxo
