New York State of Mind

Barneys New York State of MindMy web site is split between the “good life” and the “fast life” because my reality, for whatever reason, has proven that I am equal parts beach bum and editrix. In fact, to who-ever doubts astrology, I offer my sign, Pisces, and its two fish swimming in opposite directions. Extreme opposites? Yes, it’s true. I recently spent a week in NYC, where I explored my “fast” self again. I powered through day after day, hitting the office and then staying out way too late every night. I lived in Manhattan for five years — there were way too many friends to see! One friend I did spend an afternoon with? Kirsten Alana, of Aviators and a Camera. She steered me toward the mythical Barneys New York warehouse sale, where I bought two dresses without trying them on, in classic shopping New York style. But that is not the point. Do you ever feel torn between two worlds? If so, it is ok! I’ve loved my split life between the beaches, such as San Diego and Costa Rica, and the city, including Las Vegas, my current home. I promise you, I’ve never been accused of being “stuck in a rut!”

I completely understand since my life is full of variety in things I do & places I go — just the way I like it. Craving a trip to NYC — it’s been a year and half (but who’s counting?).

I like both. I want to live in a city, but I need to get away and relax by the water or the mountains for long enough to re-charge.

I also like both. My problem is that I seem to think I have to LIVE both, instead of visits. But here I know I’m preaching to the choir!

Me too, I can very much split between two lifestyles, and I do enjoy both, fast and slow, I guess it depends on the surroundings, when there’s no need to go fast, why rush? ;)

That is so true about being a product of your surroundings. :)

I’m a city girl at heart, but I do like and need the peace and quiet of a smaller or more rural setting. I try to include beaches/nature-type places in my vacations because they help me recharge the most.

Oh Abby… I totally understand! I am in need of a faster life now… so back to MTL… let’s see what will happen… but CR will always be in my heart and will always return! Now, we can meet maybe somewhere else for some shenanigans, where there are no crabs, snakes etc!

I like the laid back feel of beach life, but at the same time, if I’m there for too long I start to miss the excitement and all the possibilities the city life affords. ;)

I’m the same way! I do long to live near the beach again… Someday!
