Hotel rooms are an essential part of a resort and vital for guests. In 2020, Resort World Las Vegas will open and is rising on the site of a former Echelon project in Las Vegas Boulevard. The resort will include a 175.000 square foot casino, a 4.000 seat theatre, a retail and dining sector and a convention space. The project will also feature a sky park rooftop and an observation deck, bowling, ice-skating, panda exhibit, an aquarium and four hotel towers with more than 6.500 rooms.
The Guest Rooms
The Steelman Partner is directing the interior design of Resorts World. The design company works on every facet, from concept to space planning. Its role include interior development, lightning, furniture, textiles for restaurants and lounges, casinos and gaming salons, spa, retail and performance venues. Nicole Dalton, who is the principal of the design company said that operators want to surprise their customers in the lobby, they want to empower them in the casino and make them feel at home and special in their guest rooms. She also mentions that people want a detour from reality, an escape from everyday life and in the guest room, the designer creates different fantasies that people don’t find at home, an environment that is out of the ordinary. Dalton likes to approach to a room design with ideas of past and future.
She and her design team likes to create a residential-luxe’ feel. The bed should have luxurious linens and pillows, yet the bedding remains white, which is always timeless. The furniture is designed to be multi-functional, for example, because there can be limited space, her team creates a chaise lounge that’s for relaxing, working and dining. The bathroom is another area where good lighting is essential. Dalton’s team installs lighted mirrors and frosted doors so there can be more light into space and uses a natural stone tiling for a residential feel. Or if the look of a high-end is needed, they will add engineered stone as tiles, which is more durable and cheaper than natural stone.
On wall art, Dalton mentions that there are no more typical framed pieces, she says that a wall patterns can be used as a divider between a guest room and bathroom, she also added a fully upholstered wall with artwork printed across the entire length of the room, creating a large piece of art.
What Millennials Want
Demographically speaking, milennials are a game changing generation. They don’t always want to interact with people, usually during their stay, many things are customizable on their phones. In other words, I can’t imagine a person from Generation Y living two days without a phone. They want that kind of privacy where they can control everything on their phones by using apps. At the beginning of this article I spoke about a huge casino that is going to open. However, I cannot really speak about millennials filling a land-based casino. Therefore, an online casino is the right alternative for them, especially when they are booked to a hotel room that happens to have a casino downstairs. Just like the regular casino, the online alternative offers just as many different games as the regular gamble house. Talking about a generation that checks their phone every 5 minutes, mobile casinos are also the next step of every online casino.
In short, millennials want to do everything through online technologies. Nowadays there is an app for everything. Unlock the door with it, turn on the TV, order stuff off their phone and have food sent to their rooms.
Dalton’s team incorporates technology into design. Younger guests want a space that feels modern and to be able to change with their mood. The room are designed with control systems, like Alexa, which answers to the guests with simple orders of closing the draperies, turning the lights on. Dalton has worked with many world leading gaming companies like Las Vegas Sands, MGM Resorts International, Station Casinos and Caesars Entertainment. Her experience in never stable and it can run for several months to a year and half. She claims that she gets more excited during the two weeks before an install. She says she sees it coming together where she remembers the beginning of the project, the meetings and the faces of her clients when they see that she captured what they wanted.
Casino All the Way
Guests and players have more reasons to visit a property. They want that kind of resort experience where they can interact with the property as they see fit. From gaming offerings to restaurants, from pools to towers. The ideal hotel room for guests needs to be well functioning and comfortable. Besides meeting the basic expectations, they are pleased to see that all of their amenities and services match their home experience. They like having an intelligent personal assistant which gives specific information about the property and what’s going on. Moreover, they like having an integrated property that combines gaming, amenities and entertainment.
Players while they play a slot game at the casino, they like to sit comfortable. Comfort is the paramount of the casino. Casino seating, from slots to tables, from sports halls to bingo, including bars must be durable, stylish and able to withstand continuous use. A Munich-based company, Patir Design ensures that their casino designed chairs can make the casino customers relax in comfort while playing. The idea of a comfortable seating is to pamper the players with comfort and attractiveness which helps them keep playing.
