Paris is the city of light, love, and art. It has some of the most famous landmarks in the world and is renowned for sophistication and culture. This is one of the most beautiful cities that I have had the pleasure of visiting.
You can visit this city in elegance like the movie stars by staying in the Paris luxury apartments or simply in a charming hotel. Wherever you decide to stay, you’re never far away from the attractions. Here are the best places to visit in Paris on your next trip.
1# Go to the Eiffel Tower:
This is one of the most famous places in the world. Ask anyone and they will know and want to visit the Eiffel Tower. You don’t have to go the top to enjoy it. There are several spots around the city that offer great views. You can also get the perfect photograph from the gardens around it.
And, after dark, a light show makes the tower sparkle every hour. This is such a wonderful experience and an absolute must in Paris.
2# Visit Notre Dame:
Notre Dame is an amazing church with beautiful gothic architecture. The exterior is covered with gargoyles and you can see the very beautiful rose window on the inside. Some people like to climb the clock tower to get a birds-eye view of the city below.
3# The Arc de Triomphe:
The Arc is a giant landmark at the top of the Champs-Élysées that honours the soldiers who died in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars. You can also see the Eternal Flame underneath and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This is free to visit.
4# Visit Sainte Chapelle:
This is another one of the more prominent churches in the city that has a very rich history. It dates back to the 13th century and once held the relics of Christ. Today, the church is famous for its stained glass windows. This is one of the most beautiful things to see in Paris.
5# See the Mona Lisa at the Louvre:
The Louvre is full of amazing paintings and the Mona Lisa. Be patient, the museum gets very busy, but it’s worth it. You can spend an entire week exploring this huge place.
If you’re visiting Paris on the first Sunday of the month, you’re in for a treat – admission is free. This is a great way to experience this museum whilst saving money that you can later spend on crepes.
6# Put a Padlock on the Pont Des Art:
Couples put a padlock on this river over the Seine. After they have locked it, they throw the key into the river as a sign of their everlasting love. This is a very romantic thing to see if you’re in the city with your partner. You can even make one yourself!
7# Go Shopping along Champs-Élysées:
Champs-Élysées is the main shopping street in Paris, which is lined with designer shops and upper-class cafes. Even if you’re not in the city to buy new clothes, you can still walk around and soak up the atmosphere.
8# Just Walk Around the City:
Paris is full of beautiful architecture, street art, and interesting photo opportunities. You can just wander the streets and take everything in. Getting lost in this city is a fun experience. Whatever you decide to do, walking around will surely be a serendipitous experience
9# Join a Free Walking Tour:
If you don’t want to walk around without a purpose, join one of the free walking tours. This is completely free and you just turn up at a meeting point. The guides show you around a fixed route and give you lots of tips and cultural information along the way. If you’re happy with the tour, give your guide a small tip as a token of appreciation.
10# Go to the Palace of Versailles:
The Palace is a short distance away from the city and you’re going to need to travel to get to it. But visiting this lavish building is definitely worth the effort. Everything is covered in gold and the architecture is very elegant. The most famous attraction is the Hall of Mirrors, which is often featured in TV shows or movies.
A quick tip about visiting the Palace of Versailles. This is an extremely popular attraction and it gets crowded during the afternoon. Plan to visit early in the morning when it first opens so that you can fully appreciate this without the masses of tourists.
The city of love always lives up to its expectations as one of the best cities in the world. There are so many different things to do to keep any visitor busy for weeks. Most people want to return to Paris, and you probably will too!
