When you’re living out of a suitcase, looking after your hair can be a pain. Chances are good that you won’t want to be carrying around all your hair products with you, and if you’re traveling light, then the tiny bottles that you’re allowed to take in your carry-on luggage when it comes to liquids certainly don’t last long, especially if you’re needing to wash your hair more frequently due to it getting hot and sweaty. If you have hair that’s difficult to manage or are suffering from thinning hair that needs special treatment to look and feel its best, then looking after your hair when you’re on the road can be even more difficult. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to maintain your luscious locks whilst exploring the world. Here are some of our top tips.
Tip #1. Go Natural
Many people take their hair straighteners, dryer, and curling tongs traveling with them only to regret it later when they realize that they’re barely being used. This is especially true if you’re traveling to a country with a hot climate; chances are that you’ll be wearing your hair up most of the time, away from your face to keep you as cool as possible. In addition, heat products on your hair will simply dry it out, especially if you’ve not been able to bring along a good heat protection spray. Whilst you’re traveling, take the opportunity to embrace your natural look – you never know, you might end up liking it even more!
Tip #2. No Poo
If you’re tired of searching around for shops that sell shampoo whilst you travel, then you might want to consider the ‘no poo’ method, which has been gaining a lot of popularity recently. The chemicals and added ingredients in conventional shampoos can actually cause our hair to go greasier more quickly; as a result, you end up washing your hair more and more often, in a vicious cycle that’s difficult to get out from. If you don’t wash your hair for a while, however, you’ll soon find that your natural oils start to shine through and it’s in better condition than ever before. However, be careful – if you have very fine or thinning hair, it may take a lot longer for you to get through the initial greasy stage. Tip #3. Eat Well
One of the best things about traveling is the great opportunity that it presents to try all sorts of different cuisines and dishes that may not be available to you at home. However, don’t forget that eating well will give you the strength and stamina that you need to stay energized during your trip and enjoy it to the full. In addition, sticking to as healthy and balanced a diet as possible will work wonders for your hair! Make sure that you’re getting plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables; this will not only help to keep you refreshed in the heat but will provide your hair with the vitamins and antioxidants it needs to stay in top condition.
