Arthritis is a painful, inflammation of the joints, and if you find yourself struggling with this condition, it can be the cause of much agony and misery. How can you ease the pain, however? And what exactly is arthritis? Find out more below.

Types of Arthritis

Arthritis as a disease is just a name referring to joint pain or joint disease. Statistics recently has revealed that arthritis affects a quarter of all people in the United States, and this disease occurs more in women than in men. There are more than ten different types of arthritis, but the two common types of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

  • Osteoarthritis:This form of arthritis is often referred to as a degenerative joint disease because the cushion effect on joints becomes stiff and frictionless due to prolonged usage of the injured parts around joints. People with this disease suffer from lack of flexibility in joint and related areas with symptoms like pains around joints, tenderness, grating sensation between rub parts, and stiffness.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis:This type of arthritis is the result of an inflammatory disorder of joints, skin, and various body tissues. Inflammatory disorders could be a result of your immune system attacking its tissues. This results in swelling around tissues with pains. Additional symptoms like tenderness, fatigue, and weight loss tend to occur.

Other forms of arthritis include; Adult-onset Still’s disease, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Bursitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Degenerative Disc Disease and a host of others.

Factors That Cause Arthritis

There are a variety of different factors which cause arthritis. These include:

  • Type of Occupation: A frequent sedentary position that deals with prolonged sitting and squatting can attribute to osteoarthritis.
  • Injuries: Joint injuries from sporting activities and even accidents can result in osteoarthritis. These injuries can also reduce the activities or use of that particular joint causing stiffness and pain with time.
  • Overweight:Excessive increase in weight over time could result in osteoarthritis. Individuals with excessive weight have reduced the level of daily activities hence increase the deposit of fat in related jointed areas causing stiffness with time.
  • Age: Arthritis is common with the adult individual. Majority of people show symptoms of arthritis from the age of 68. This is as results of the stiffness of joints and reduced flexibility of bone tissue.

How To Reduce Pain Caused By Arthritis

Pain generally is the main symptom of all forms of arthritis. It is possible to reduce the pain or completely remove the pain with medication subscribed by your GP. However, some natural solutions may act as a remedy to ease the pain of arthritis. These include:

Massage Therapy

Going for a massage may serve as a remedy way of easing the pain of arthritis. The science of massage therapy has widely been adopted as a way of reducing stiffness to joints and other muscle tissue. A joint massage focuses on areas of stiffness around the tissue of muscle fibers, creating a soothing sensation, and helps improve joint movement in different areas. Many therapists also advise that self-massage for areas like knee, elbow, neck might be one possible way of reducing pains.

Cannabis Oil

The cannabis plant is also known as marijuana and has been found to be a likely treatment of Rheumatoid arthritis. Cannabidiol oil which is an extract of cannabis affects brain activity by interacting with receptors to reduce pain and also acts as an anti-inflammatory response. It could slow down the process or even stop the activity of inflammation. Cannabis oil can easily be purchased online; using an online dispensary not only gives you the variety available to you but also gives you easy access if you are too fatigued or sick to move. Weight Loss

Losing weight may serve as a way of reducing pains of arthritis. Weight therapy involves both exercise and dietary measures. The distribution of pressure in the upper parts of the body might be difficult for the lower parts to bear leading to more pains in the hips and knee region. Low impact exercise like walking and swimming is one possible way of losing some weight.

A dietary measure is also one useful way of cutting down body fat or reducing weight. There are different techniques for using dietary measures in controlling weight. Some may include taking a protein-based diet, avoiding sugary drinks and carbonated drinks, drinking water at least one hour before a meal. General reduction of weight reduces pressure on joint of the lower extremity and may also help reduce pains.

Yoga Practice

It is widely believed that yoga can help ease the pain of arthritis. General yoga includes slow breathing, rhythmic activity, and meditation principle. It applies flexibility and a stretching technique in different forms and routines. Iyengar Yoga is more comfortable with people suffering from Osteoarthritis, while other yoga practices like Hatha yoga may help reduce joint pain, stiffness, and improves flexibility in different areas.

Thermotherapy Principle

Pains generally are meant to occur intermittently around the body. When such pains occur, applying a cold massage may help as a soothing relief from pains. This method is often known as thermotherapy.

Thermotherapy involves the use of both heat and cold to reduce pains of arthritis. The application and usage of both heat and cold involve different techniques. Warm water can be used to reduce the stiffness of joints around movable parts. Towel or pads soaked in warm water can also be applied in areas experiencing stiffness.

Relaxation Through Meditation And Deep Breathing

Deep and slow breathing from time to time helps control pressure on different areas of the body. It does this, through the control of the amount of blood flow to those areas, hence the reduction in blood pressure. It has been found useful and may reduce the likelihood of pains around the body.

Muscle Relaxation

Muscle relaxation might be one helpful way to reduce pains in affected areas. Pains often arise during contraction and stress. Learning on how to release your muscle contraction through cooling down from a different part of the body may be one way to reduce stiffness and pains.
